About The Woolltones
The Woolltones Choir is a non-auditioned, community choir that welcomes singers of all levels and experience. We sing a wide variety of repertoire; we learn good singing techniques in a fun atmosphere! We hold a concert a couple of times a year. No experience with a choir is necessary and you don’t need to be able to read music.....just a willingness to 'give it a go' and enjoy singing! The Woolltones' Music Director is Tanya Christensen with Dewi Lui as accompanist.
The History of The Woolltones Choir
Tanya Christensen, Musical Director of the successful Monday Nightingales choir, started the Woolltones Choir in 2018 to meet the need for a new singing group in the Eastern Suburbs, and it grew quickly.
The Covid lockdowns of 2021 were very disruptive for the choir, and Tanya reluctantly had to step down from her role. Naomi Cooper was appointed to take her place as Musical Director, and to lead the choir's recovery.

The choir started rehearsals again on Thursday 3rd February 2022 as planned, albeit on Zoom, but as of Thursday 10 March 2022 returned to its home venue of St Columba Church. The choir had an eventful year in 2022, but managed to complete it with a very successful concert. Tanya Christensen accepted our invitation to return as Music Director in 2023. The choir has gone from strength to strength, exceeding pre-covid number of members, and looks to completing 2023 with a great concert on Saturday 25 Nov.
Woollahra Council supported the starting of the choir with a grant and has continued to do so by supporting the relaunch of the choir
